"Who Would Hold You If The Sky Betrayed Us” is a versatile project with many artistic arms imagined and created by the Montreal band Thus Owls. It’s a residency, an art exchange, a conversation, a performance, an interactive music installation and a record. Founded in Stockholm, based in Montreal, Thus Owls is the ongoing creative project of the Swedish Canadian couple Erika Angell and Simon Angell. They returned in March 2022 with an expansive and audacious new double-album also called” Who Would Hold You If The Sky Betrayed Us”. It is a saxophone-studded journey and an explosion of improv, poetry, and visionary rock'n'roll that seeks to understand what it means to be—and belong. The live presentation of their newest music is as always ever morphing, their goal being to invent a startling, aggressive new musical language—one which reflects their dream of a vivid, interwoven sound, while forging a sensorially layered and inclusive environment, a twilight zone where music, poetry, conversation, and improvisation offers a space for exchange, not only between performer and audience but also between audience members. Collaborative artists for the performance will be drummer Samuel Joly and saxophonists Claire Devlin, Jason Sharp and Adam Kinner.
